Construction of a new state-of-the-art X-Flight rollercoaster at Six Flags theme park in Gurnee is moving along at a fast pace just like the ride itself, thanks to the recent mild weather. The high point of the 12 story rollercoaster, which actually looks more like an airplane, was installed in January. The state-of the-art rollercoaster was designed for the thrill seeking patron and not for the fainthearted.

A variety of before and after school enrichment classes offered to middle students at Gurnee Grade school are allowing students to experience a taste of the past, and perhaps a long overdue respite from the high tech world they were born into.

Gurnee authorities werent blowing smoke when they announced a crackdown on local stores who sell tobacco products to minors. While most merchants and their employees appear to have taken the mandate seriously, a recent check of 27 Gurnee businesses found one worker in violation of the edict.
